The Virginia Trail Riders Inc is a private group organization founded in Virginia in 1957 by equestrian enthusiasts for the purpose of furthering the enjoyment of long distance trail riding. They sponsor two rides every year at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, a 30 mile competitive ride with a pleasure division held in October, and a spring 30, 50, 100 mile and pleasure ride in April. The trails traverse a network at the Homestead property and surrounding area of many miles of wooded paths, and some public and private roads through the Allegheny mountains and surrounding properties. Stabling is provided on the grounds of the Homestead, adjacent to the equestrian center near hotel accommodations at the resort. Participation is by entry submitted to the VTR, Inc. Entry forms are traditionally mailed to participants several months prior to each event, and are made available online as well as by request. Plans are now being made for the 2023 Spring ride March 30 – April 2, 2023. For more information on conditions and registration, see Conditions and Participate. Special room rates of $239 will be held until March 2, 2023. For more information about the ride contact Martha Rodgers or Doris Stimpson Virginia Trail Riders, Inc.
